I just wanted to let everyone know of a few updates and improvements over here at Prophecy Index.  Now, to begin the list of updates I'll start with three feature requests.  The first is what we're calling "hotlinks".  Since moving to a new addressing system for prophecies I've inadvertently broken a few things.  So, to resolve this problem we've hired a squirrel with a sledgehammer.  He'll be overseeing the breakage of things from now on. :P  Okay, okay, I'm joking.  But in all seriousness I've taken an otherwise messy situation and made improvements that should minimize the pain this will cause.  I've also added some other features, as mentioned earlier, to improve your experience here.

The first of these, per use suggestion, is a search tool that has been placed on the broken links error page.  IE, when someone comes to the site and the URL, for whatever reason, doesn't work anymore, they are presented with an updated error message and a search box to help them find the prophecy they originally came to see.  The second improvement, also by user suggestion, dovetails into the first.  We're calling it "hotlinks".  Since our new URL system is based on the name of the respective prophecy rather than it's ID number, any change to that name thus breaks the URL.  To resolve this I've implemented a "hotlinks" system that creates a shortcut from the old URL to the new one.

This way, anytime I update a prophecy name, for whatever reason I may need to, I simply follow this up with a hotlink, and bingo, the old URL remains active and it automatically points to the new URL allowing you to continue seeing the same prophecy at the same address without making any changes on your end.  This is especially important on Facebook as it allows links in older posts to still be valid even if changes are made months or years later.  This will permit you greater user impact when using any of these prophecies as a witnessing tool to the lost, or an encouragement to the saved.

And now the third and final updates is yet another user suggested feature.  This feature is a simple sort option that has been added to the main prophecy listing.  You can click on any one of the four titles and automatically sort the listing in whatever order you wish.  The default sort is alphabetically by title, but there's also by type (modern/biblical), status (pending, in progress, etc), date posted, and last updated.  One note of caution with sorting by status.  Since my backend system is numerically delineated by necessity, the status texts won't sort alphabetically.  So I apologize for that, but there's really no simple way to fix that other than to completely rewrite my entire system, and I'm not up for that just yet. ^_^;;

Lastly, for those of you reporting bugs, I will simply say, thank you, and gladly report that they are all fixed.  And with this I end my latest update on things happening here at PI.  If you wish to share comments, ideas, suggestions, bug reports, etc with me, please do.  This site is here, by God's request, to benefit you.  So whatever you need, if I can provide it, I'll be absolutely glad to do so.
